The Global Summud Flotilla and Trump’s “Peace Deal”

A nod to the courage of Israel’s elite naval commandos who risked nothing but a sunburn to detain hundreds of peaceful protesters on the perfectly legal Global Sumud Flotilla.

On the other hand, interfering with the passage of civilian vessels in international waters is a crime. When Somalis or other non-state actors do it, their actions are instantly condemned as piracy or terrorism.

Aside from the criminality of Israel’s military conduct at sea is the fact that the Israeli government has no legal authority under international law to control Gaza or inflict sea, air and land blockades. Only American support makes this oppression and the ongoing slaughter possible.

Apparently, Greta Thunberg and other captured activists were mistreated by the Israeli military with the full support of the Netanyahu regime. Unlike Palestinian journalists, their nationalities protected them from overt violence.
Thunberg and her peers have been released and remain defiant in defense of Gaza’s emancipation.

Such principled determination by young people reveals the empty cynicism and opportunism of Trump’s so-called peace deal, which is nothing but a real estate scam designed to help Israel finish its genocide.
